Yes, these products are highly recommended, whether it is a roll-on for spots or for headaches, a spray for purifying the atmosphere, a gel for “little scratches” or any other well-formulated mixture, such as a medicinal preparation, for example. Not only do essential oils work in synergy (several together are often more effective than just one) but also these formulae are designed to remove all risk of toxicity or burns of any kind. Furthermore, they can be made into pleasant to use and/or adapted forms such as gels, sprays (specialities) or gel capsules, pessaries or suppositories (officinales preparations). Finally, using these products is cheaper. Take for example a spray with 41 essential oils: buying 41 separate bottles to prepare the mixture yourself would cost you a fortune! We particularly recommend the Puressentiel product range by Aroma Thera Laboratory, sold in pharmacies. They offer very effective formulae, for which the results have been validated through clinical trials. However, nothing is stopping you from preparing your own mixtures, on condition that they are simple (3 to 4 essential oils maximum). In fact it is very pleasant to prepare your “own” bath oil for example, sticking closely to the number of recommended drops.

Most of them keep perfectly well for between 3 and 5 years, as long as a few instructions are followed closely. Keep them away from air, heat and light, especially the citrus fruit (lemon, mandarin…) or the pistachio lentiscus essential oils, which must even be kept away from spotlights and halogen lamps. At room temperature, in a closed cupboard – out of the reach of children – would be perfect.
